Research Interests
Research in the Knope lab broadly focuses on chemistries that address challenges in the areas of energy, sustainability, and environmental management. Under this umbrella we have developed two research thrusts that include (1) understanding the chemical behavior of actinides under conditions relevant to nuclear waste management, environmental transport, and separations processes and (2) examining structure-property relationships in luminescent materials based on cheap, globally available, non-toxic base elements to address “critical materials” research needs.
